ENDOVENOUS LASER ABLATION BRISBANE

Endovenous Laser Ablation is used at Vein Doctors Group to treat larger veins

This treatment is a great alternative to traditional invasive surgical vein stripping. The great thing about Endovenous Laser Ablation is that there is no need for bed rest, inactivity, hospital admission or general anaesthetic. At Vein Doctors Group no incisions are made meaning there are no scars.

During this treatment local anaesthetic is used to minimise any feelings of discomfort

A fine laser fibre is delicately passed along the abnormal vein to seal the vein with heat.  This actively prevents the accumulation of blood in the incompetent vessel, and flow stops in the unhealthy vein. High resolution ultrasound is used to monitor the treatment process.

These large veins generally respond well to this procedure with many patients experiencing a dramatic change in the appearance of their legs

In comparison with vein stripping and ultrasound guided sclerotherapy this treatment is considered to have a much lower recurrence rate. When EVLA and Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherapy are used together, this generally optimizes the success of treatment of large varicose veins. After this treatment we will ask you to walk for 30-40 minutes to maximise the effects of this procedure. You may then resume most normal activities. Endovenous laser ablation (EVLA) and Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherapy (UGS enables safe and effective treatment of the most complex and severe varicose veins and is not a temporary cosmetic solution for varicose veins. This treatment modality is not mainstream knowledge by general practitioners, general surgeons and vascular surgeons.
